Is wine vegan?
For a product made from grapes, it’s easy to think that wine is vegetarian or vegan. However, that’s not always the case, as some wine manufacturers use animal products in the production of their wine.
There are a wide variety of animal products that can be used in the winemaking process, depending on the vineyard and the type of wine being made. Some use egg whites (which can help reduce the tannin content of wine), whereas others use milk protein (which can help remove floating sediment in white and rosé wines to make them clearer). Other animal-derived ingredients are also used in some cases, including gelatin, fish oil, and crustacean shells.
All of our wines are registered with the Vegan Society, so when you are enjoying a bottle of SLIM wine, you can rest assured that no animal-derived ingredients were used in the wine-making process.
