Low calorie wine
Keto Wine: 0g Carbs at Full Strength
Most dry wine carries two to four grams of carbohydrate a glass. Ours carries none, because fermentation converts every gram of grape sugar into alcohol. At 0g carbs and 11% vol it fits a ketogenic day without using any of the allowance up.

It depends on the bottle
Is wine keto friendly?
Usually, just about, and it depends entirely on the bottle.
Carbohydrate in wine comes almost entirely from residual sugar, which is whatever the yeast did not convert during fermentation. A bone dry wine might finish around one gram a glass. An off dry white can reach five or six. A dessert wine is in a different category altogether.
The problem on keto is not that wine is high in carbs by most standards. It is that a twenty gram daily ceiling does not leave much room for anything to be a surprise, and wine labels are not required to tell you.
The arithmetic against a 20g day
| Carbs per 175ml glass | Share of a 20g day | |
|---|---|---|
| Our wine | 0g | 0% |
| A typical dry red or white | 2 to 4g | 10 to 20% |
| An off dry white | 5 to 6g | 25 to 30% |
| A sweet or dessert wine | 10g+ | 50%+ |
Two glasses of an ordinary dry white can take a fifth of the day. Two glasses of this takes none of it.
All of them
Which of our wines work on keto
All of them, equally. Every wine in the range is 0g carbs and 0g sugar at 11% vol, so there is no keto-optimal choice to make. Pick on taste.
- La Rossa, a dry red from Merlot and Barbera
- Il Bianco, a crisp white from Sauvignon and Chardonnay
- Rosé, pale and dry
- Sparkling White and Sparkling Pink, no dosage sugar added
Sparkling is worth a specific mention. Most fizz receives a dosage after the second fermentation, which is sugar added on purpose, so it is often the worst choice on keto despite feeling like the lightest. Ours receives none.
Being straight about it
Alcohol and ketosis: what actually happens
Worth being straight about, because a lot of what gets written here is wrong in both directions.
The body treats alcohol as a priority fuel and metabolises it ahead of fat. That does not end ketosis, but while it is happening, fat burning slows. Zero carbs does not mean zero effect.
Alcohol also tends to hit harder when you are in ketosis, and tolerance often drops noticeably. That is a widely reported experience rather than something we have measured.
None of that is a reason not to drink. It is a reason to know what you are choosing. If you are following a clinically supervised plan, check with whoever is supervising it.
The short version: you cannot
Reading a wine label for carbs
The short version: you usually cannot.
Wine is not generally required to carry a nutritional panel, so there is no carbohydrate figure to check on most bottles. The proxies people use are style and sweetness terms, which are rough at best. Brut nature on a sparkling wine means very little sugar. Extra dry means more than brut, despite the name.
Where a producer publishes a figure, that is the one to trust. We publish ours.
Fermented to dryness
How ours reaches zero
Selected yeasts and a longer, cooler fermentation that runs until there is nothing left to convert. Nothing is added afterwards and nothing is stripped out.
It is also why the wine is 11% rather than something weaker. All that sugar became alcohol.
SLBrew
Keto beer as well as keto wine
SLBrew is the beer equivalent, brewed with a longer fermentation rather than diluted.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Yes, with care about which bottle. Carbohydrate in wine comes from residual sugar, so dry styles are far lower than sweet ones. Ours carries 0g per serving.
Ours carries 0g carbohydrate per serving. A typical dry wine usually carries a few grams a glass, though most bottles do not publish a figure.
The driest you can find, and ideally one that publishes its numbers. Sweet wines and most sparkling wines are the ones to avoid, because fizz usually carries added dosage sugar.
It does not end ketosis, but the body metabolises alcohol ahead of fat, so fat burning slows while that is happening. Tolerance also tends to drop in ketosis.
SLBrew is brewed with a longer fermentation for the same reason the wine is. See the lager and IPA pages for the detail.
